According to Article 12 of the Masaryk University Study and Examination Regulations (SaER), a student acquires the right to enrol in the next semester of a given study if he/she has successfully completed all repeated courses enrolled in the immediately preceding semester and if he/she has fulfilled the condition for enrolment in the next semester according to Article 12(2) of the SaER.

According to this plan, a student can enrol in the following semester if

  • he/she has earned at least 20 credits for courses enrolled in the current semester, or at least 45 credits for courses in the immediately preceding and current semesters,
  • has completed the minimum credit value of any of his/her studies and the period of study in any of them has not exceeded the standard period.

The student enrols in the following semester via IS MU. A student who on the last day of the enrolment deadline has not acquired the right to enrol in the following semester shall have his/her studies terminated pursuant to Section 56(1)(b) of the Higher Education Act and Article 15(1)(b) of the SaER. In accordance with Section 68(4) of the Higher Education Act, a student may lodge an appeal within 30 days of the date on which the decision to terminate his/her studies was delivered to him/her; the request shall be submitted to the authority that issued the decision.

Enrolment in the next semester without fulfilling the above-mentioned conditions according to § 12 of the SaER is possible only exceptionally based on the Dean's exception. There is no legal entitlement to an exemption. Applications are considered on an individual basis. All the circumstances of the case are taken into account, in particular the reasons why the study obligations could not be fulfilled on time, the smooth course of study to date without previous exceptions, the above-standard study results and the recommending opinion of the supervisor.
