Pan-European Seal Programme

The Faculty of Law is a member of the Pan-European Seal Traineeship Programme. The Pan-European Seal Professional Traineeship Programme is a comprehensive IP programme which bridges academia and the IP labour market.

It is promoted in partnership with two of the world’s largest IP offices, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante (Spain) or Brussels or Luxembourg and the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich (Germany) together with their strategic University partners.

The Pan-European Seal is an IP programme that covers many academic areas. Thanks to the programme, high-achieving young university graduates or students in the last year of their studies can access paid traineeships at EUIPO and EPO, helping them to get a foot in the door of the competitive world of IP through valuable on-the-job multicultural professional work experience.

Those interested in participating in traineeships under this programme should submit a written application by 7th February 2025 to the Office for International Relations of the Faculty of Law. The applications should include a CV, a proof of proficiency in the EUIPOs or EPOs respective working languages, a letter of motivation marking the preferred institution (at least 4000 char.), a copy of a diploma or a list of passed exams (for students in their last year of studies), a list of successfully completed elective courses related to intellectual property, a registered diploma thesis topic or a submitted SVOČ on the topic related to intellectual property and a certificate proving that the applicant has successfully passed selected EUIPO online courses.

Candidates for EUIPO must register through the EUIPO Academy Learning Portal, as a member of the Pan-European Seal (by selecting in the registration’s drop-down menu the name of the correspondent University/Programme). Candidates for EUIPO must complete at least one of these courses: “EUTM in a Nutshell” or “RCD in a Nutshell”.

Candidates for EPO, once selected, they will be invited to take the following e-learning courses and upload the certificates of completion to their application page: “Introduction to the European patent system (mandatory for all)”, “Using CPC in classification (mandatory for scientists and engineers only)”, “The EPO as PCT authority (mandatory for lawyers and political sciences)”.

The applications will be evaluated upon the following conditions: proven interest in IP law, certificate(s) of the selected EUIPO online course(s), language skills (English, German, French, Italian or Spanish on at least B1 level for EUIPO; English, German or French on at least B1 level for EPO). Participation in Erasmus or other similar exchange programmes and further language skills will be considered as an advantage. EUIPO and EPO have reserved the right to revise the results of the selection process. The Faculty of Law will provide the EUIPO and the EPO with the shortlists of candidates and these institutions will select candidates on the basis of those shortlists.

Registration to the online training courses: register by clicking to the upper right corner on the EUIPO Pan-European Seal Programme website and select to register as “Members of the Pan-European Seal Programme”. Similarly the registration will be done on the EPO website.

Successful applicants will be offered a traineeship agreement with EUIPO/EPO for the duration of 12 months starting in September and be provided with a grant of 1200-1400 EUR/month (EUIPO) and aprox. 2300 EUR/month (EPO).
