Programme Overview

The British Law Centre in collaboration with Masaryk University, Faculty of Law, offers a 2-year Diploma in An Introduction to English and European Union Law which covers the following subject modules:

Year 1

  1. English Legal System, Introduction EU Constitutional law
  2. Criminal Law
  3. Law of Contract, Contract Drafting and Sale of Goods Law
  4. Law of Tort
  5. Law of Trust/Property

Year 2

  1. EU Substantive Law
  2. Intellectual Property Law
  3. The Law of Business Associations (with emphasis on company law)
  4. International Trade Law

All teaching is in English and is conducted either by visiting academics or professionals from the University of Cambridge (and from cooperating universities and institutions) or by the experienced BLC tutors.

Modules completed in this course can be recognized as optional courses within the Masaryk university degree programs in law.

The BLC Diploma Course is

  • Practical (participants learn how to apply law to real life situations)
  • Professional (taught by resident tutors and eminent visiting lecturers)
  • Beneficial (participants’ skill portfolios are greatly improved by the Diploma)

Start of the Course

Autumn semester 2018

Course Duration

  • 2 years, and all participants must successfully complete the first-year requirements to be admitted to the second year (Please see here for more information regarding the assessment methods.)
  • 4 sessions per semester held on Fridays and Saturdays



Target Group

Lawyers in any legal practice area and Law students who wish to broaden and develop
their knowledge and skills in the area of English Law and EU Law and raise their language

  • Minimum: 30
  • Maximum: 50

  • 675 EUR / year
  • 525 EUR / year (student rate)

      + 100 EUR / a local centre one-off administration fee
